This month, we got to taste some delicious, healthy, interesting and scrumdidliumptious fruit!
The first fruit we tasted was a hairy apple, otherwise known as a peach! Peaches grow in hot countries. They grow on trees. The skin of the peach has all the good stuff in it: vitamins and fibre.
Peaches make excellent moisturizers! A cheap Christmas present perhaps?
Then we tasted the peaches less hairy brother, the nectarine. Like its brother, the nectarine is a stoned fruit. The nectarine gets its name from the tasty treat the gods ate, nectar! Like our apples last month, the nectarine is part of the rose family. Nectarines are delicious: fact!
Then Mrs. Shine produced from her bag, what we thought was a dinosaur egg!
We were wrong however, as they were not dinosaur eggs but cherimoya! Yes, thats right, a cherimoya! This lumpy and bumpy fruit is part of the custard apple family, just like the pawpaw fruit. It was squishy and soft and smelt interesting.
We had to be careful not to eat the black seeds.
It was certainly an interesting tasting! We took a vote and 9 people in our class liked it, 18 did not!
