All during January we have been thinking about plants and animals all around our school and decided we should do more to help the wild birds that visit us every day and show some care to our very own classroom plants!
We have Daffodils, Tulips and Muscari ready to bloom and each day someone new takes a turn to water them and make sure the plant can get sunlight during the day.
Every day we check our bird feeders outside and top them up when we need to. We also decided that we should get to know our feathered visitors names and we have started an 'Observation Station' to spot lots of different kinds of wild birds.
In History, we learned about John Philip Holland. Did you know that he invented the modern submarine in 1883? We were shocked to find out that he was also from Liscannor in County Clare. We looked at his plans and designs for his submarines and how he improved them every time something went wrong.
We were so inspired by John Philip Holland that we designed our own submarines and made models out of Clay. We really enjoyed working with clay and making some really unusual and exciting submarines
