After our visit to the fruit shop, we were really looking forward to tasting our May fruit: apricots and paraguaya (a flat peach). We chatted about what we had learned about from Brian in the fruit shop.
Both fruits sounded so delicious it was hard to decide which fruit. In the end we went with the apricots.
Our fractions came in handy again this month. We had 20 apricots and 27 mouths to feed so we decided to half the apricots. Everyone got to smell and feel the apricots while our teacher was halving them. Our mouths were watering because they smelled so sweet.
The apricots were as delicious as they smelled. Lots of us got to have a second half, we were very lucky.
We were really looking forward to our second fruit, paraguaya (flat peach).
We decided the best way to share these out was to cut them into quarters. We had 7 paraguayas so after cutting them up we had 28 quarters, enough for everyone and some extra.
We decided that the paraguaya tasted like peach mixed with a plum! It was really delicious!
We really enjoyed fruity Friday this month as we got to go to the fruit shop and pick out our own fruit with Brian!
Mrs Shine was very impressed with some of the children who told her that they had eaten apricots over the weekend and some of us even had paraguaya for our lunch this week!
