We have had a wonderful February and March in Room 10 and here are some of our Highlights!
Pancake Tuesday was such a lovely treat! We are quite the chefs in our class! We each brought in different toppings to try on our delicious Pancakes and they were yummy!
The Super Seven did a fabulous job on their Mother's Day Bouquet Cards. The children put so much thought and effort into making them so special and we hope all the Mum's really enjoyed reading them!
We love Science in our class, especially when we get to test/try out experiments. During March we were learning about Push/Pull and Forces. We tested out lots of push/pull toys and situations but our favourite was the Domino Effect!

During January and February we learned about Procedural Writing.
We talked about recipes and instructions and even wrote our own fabulous recipe for Hot Chocolate!!!!
Ms. Mullins asked the children to suggest something else to write about and she got the shock of her life.
when Alex suggested Slime.... and that's just what we did!
We looked up different recipes, found the ingredients and followed the instructions. We even wrote our own recipe for SLIME which was even better!
You can see some of the behind-the-scenes-slime action below!
December was a very busy months for the Super Seven!
It's safe to say that this class certainly achieved a LOT!
All through December, we worked really hard on our Christmas Vocabulary with out SLT's Eilís and Orlaith and had a fantastic Scavenger Hunt through Ennis Town to find everything on our checklist!
During December we also had a very special Christmas performance. For weeks, the children learned their songs, rhymes and rehearsed their lines. Friends and Family came to the School Hall to sit and watch a wonderful performance of the play 'Lost and Found'. It was fan-tas-tic!
We celebrated Science Week in our Class last week. We were very busy investigating!
We wanted answers to 2 questions:
1- Can Skittles really make a rainbow?
2- How can you make raisins dance?
In November, we have been learning all about our home and community. We had great fun learning about important buildings we have in our community. We made a list of all the important people and buildings in our community but we had the most fun building our own little town! We each picked something to build...
In our town, you will see:
An Emergency Centre (Police Station and Doctor's Surgery)
A Park for everyone to enjoy.
In October, we were working on our Autumn Theme.
We were learning lots about Autumn and what happens all around us at this time of year.
We learned about animals who hibernate and our favourite hibernating animal was the hedgehog. We learned all about what they eat, what they look and feel like and where to find them.
Here are our Top 3 Facts:
1- Hedgehogs cannot drink milk.
2- They love to eat slugs, worms , frogs and insects.
3- They can curl up inti a little ball when they are scared.
We liked them so much , we even made our own Hedgehog Family.
Miss Mullins LOVES Phonics!
Here are some easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy activities to do on your computer/tablet at home. Here are the sounds and phonics we've been working on so far:
-ai- sound (when 2 vowels go walking let the first one do the talking so this is a long 'a' sound)
Practice 'ai' words here:
-ea- sound (when two vowels go walking let the first one do the talking so this is a long 'e' sound)
Matching beginning letter sounds:
CvC Word Reading Pratice:
Word-searches are great for practicing words and sounds too:
Why not try some of these:
In Maths we were learning all about 2D shapes.
We asked :
-What are their names?
-How many sides do they have?
-How many faces do they have?
-Where can we find them in our classroom?
-Where can we find them in a house?
The Super Seven became 2D shape experts! We even went a little bit further by constructing using all the shapes we learned about. Have a look at these wonderful creations!
Here are some links for games and activities you can to shape up at shapes!
We are so lucky to have our own Language Class in CBS Ennis. There are 7 fantastic children in this class and their teacher is Ms.Mullins. We also have our wonderful SLTs, Eilís and Orlaith, who come to us twice a week to help us with our Speech and Language work. We are always so busy in Room 10!! :-)
