We LOVE reading in our class! It's so important and so enjoyable!
Everyday we listen and respond to stories.
We predict what will happen next. We ask questions about the stories and about the characters.
We try to think what the next word will be if it's a rhyming book.
Here are two videos for you to listen to and enjoy at home.
We have read these two stories in class.
Superworm by Julia Donaldson and STUCK by Oliver Jeffers.
The last day of school was great fun but it also meant we had to say goodbye to two wonderful boys , Callum and Oskar. Both boys have worked so hard. While we will miss them so much we know they are going to do fantastic back at their old schools. Well done on all your hard work boys . We are so proud of you . The very best of luck ! :)
This year, we travelled to the Burren Nature Sanctuary in Kinvara for our School tour.We were also joined by the fantastic boys and girls from Holy Family Language Class. We got to feed and hold lots of different animals (our favourite was Larry the llama!) , tip toe through the fairy forest and had loads of fun in the giant playground. Here are some snaps from a lovely day out.
Keeping Active and Exercising is so important. During Active Schools week , we made a big effort to have as much movement as possible in our classes. This included lots of GoNoodle, Dancing Breaks, Hip Hop Dancing with Lourdes from Sparks and a fun-filled Sports Day. We also had great fun trying out some new events and activities during PE. Thanks so much to Mr.Bell and Mr.Millane for organising such a great week for all!
We had great fun dressing up for Lá Bréag Eadach (Fancy Dress Day) which is a great tradition in our school. Well done to everybody for taking part and putting in such great efforts with costumes!
Literacy Week was a great week in our school. We especially loved taking photos for the 'Get Caught Reading' Competition and meeting the amazing author Benji Bennett. He gave us a fantastic book all about travelling back in time to see some incredible inventions. Thanks also to our SLT Orlaith for taking part in our Community Readers by reading a story to our students and telling us all about her job. The children had some great questions and really enjoyed the story 'Oscar the hungry unicorn' , especially Oskar from our class !
We had some marvellous fun celebrating Easter in Room 10, making lots of Easter crafts and Art as well as a visit to our friends in Holy Family Junior School. We had so much fun finding and solving clues. It was hard work, but everyone worked together and we earned some delicious Easter Eggs!! Here are some photos of our great day !
During May we were learning about homes and the lives of people in the past and people did before electricity . As part of our learning we visited Clare museum to see some artefacts from the past and it was so interesting. We even found some artefacts from where some of our class live today!
In First and Second Class we are doing lots of work on Place Value (tens and units) and using our 100 square. Here are some links to games and activities to practice these skills at home.
We are so lucky to have our own Language Class in CBS Ennis. There are 7 fantastic children in this class and their teacher is Ms.Mullins. We also have our wonderful SLTs, Eilís and Orlaith, who come to us twice a week to help us with our Speech and Language work. We are always so busy in Room 10!! :-)
