Celebrating the opening of their new school, CBS Ennis is delighted to issue a call to children's writers and illustrators to take part in a exciting commission to mark this special event.
Funded through the Per Cent for Art Scheme associated with the construction project, Ennis CBS have decided to commission a writer or illustrator to engage with the school community in the creation of a children's book.
On completion of the book each child in the school will receive a complimentary copy, to encourage their love of reading and to further develop the special bond between the school and its pupils.
With over 670 students drawn from more than 30 nationalities, Ennis CBS reflects the diversity of the town of Ennis. The school would like this diversity to be reflected in the book, as well as the town of Ennis. It is envisaged that the selected writer will work with the children in the school, engaging them in the process of writing and inspiring them to recognise their own creativity.
As part of the commission, the school is looking to develop a complimentary art project to accompany the book. Ideas such as a musical sound scape, an art project, an animation / film project have all been suggested but writers are very welcome to suggest artists and other art forms that they would like to work with also.
This exciting addition offers opportunities to children's writers to consider other artforms and work with artists of other disciplines, something that is very unusual but full of possibilities..
Writers interested in making a submission can dowload the full details at www.publicart.ie. Enquiries can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. The closing date for applications is November 29th, 2019.
